Holland and Barrett have announced it is:

• Fully paying staff for three weeks until 17 April
• Paying staff who work in stores or distribution centres an additional 10% above their normal pay
• Paying staff who need to self-isolate or lives with someone at-risk

There is considerable debate on social media about the chain being classed as 'essential', and whether staff have been provided sufficient PPE equipment. If you can verify this, then please get in touch.

Home Bargains created a £30 million fund to pay staff:

• when they self-isolate
• who are higher risk and need to self-isolate for longer
• if they haven't self-isolated by December, they'll get two weeks of pay anyway

In more news:

• They also donated £14,500 worth of food to a local foodbank, which will feed 2,500 people in Knowsley, near Liverpool

• IKEA have paid their staff 90% of their usual wages while they were placed on furlough. However the company did not claim any money from the government.
• They plan to repay governments in other countries where they have participated in a state-run furlough scheme.

According to an email sent to customers, Pets at Home have:

• Given all NHS staff get 10% off shopping and vet bills
• Donated £1.1 million in charitable grants
• Fully paid staff who need to shield for 12 weeks or self-isolate
• Created a £1 million staff hardship fund to help staff and families

According to an internal letter sent to staff, which I have seen:

• Smiggle have asked staff to take unpaid leave while the company waits for money from the Government's furlough scheme
• Employees will be receive back-dated pay (at 80% of their usual salary), but that means it could be weeks where they are going without pay
• No date is set for when the will next be paid

Superdrug have announced a £40m package which includes:

• paying colleagues in full if they are not able to work through either sickness, self isolation, being a parent, being a vulnerable person, or due to store closures
• colleagues who live with or care for someone in a vulnerable group

The Body Shop have: 

• Donated over 255,000 products to NHS workers
• Closed stores on 20-21 March, with staff being on full pay to the 4 April
• Paid sick leave for staff, including those who are self-isolating

• At least one store has brought in fridges to apparently allow them to classed as an essential store
• Workers have said they are 'terrified' over safety concerns, but The Range dismissed concerns

• Staff on furlough have their wages topped up to 100% – it costs the firm £500,000 a week to do so

• Increased their NHS staff discount to 20%
• Most stores are closing, 40% remaining open. These include shops in locations where other services aren't available (newsagents, postal and banking services), and shops in hospitals.
• Stores have donated food, including easter eggs, to NHS staff and other good causes

According to internal documents which I have seen:

• All operations, including stores closed on Tue 24 March
• Staff are paid in full for the following two weeks,
• Staff will then 'use up' any annual leave they have remaining, before being paid 80% of their wages as part of the Gov scheme
• The company has also given staff up to £100 extra for a 'food fund' to help them buy food

• Wilko kicked off March by saying they were cutting sick pay for staff
• Staff employed less that one year would get no sick pay while long serving staff only would get once instance of paid sickness leave once per year
• Wilko later put the plans on hold after criticism. They said 'Wilko has paid Company Sick Pay to team members absent with COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak and continues to do so. This is over and above Statutory Sick Pay'
• GMB Union said that workers were 'terrified' over safety concerns but Wilko rejects this

• On 20 March Wren sacks hundreds of staff for 'underperformance' but invites them to 'reconnect' once coronavirus is over
• Many staff were sent the exact same script, and were given one week's pay in lieu of notice – read the letter in full. Their last day was 23 March
• According to one person, they were told 'to stay positive and that the company is cash rich'
